RED CINE-X Pro uses Nvidia CUDA Cores to Decode Redcode

This is great news for PC users. An Nvidia RTX 2080Ti is much cheaper than a RedRocket. It's unclear whether or not this will support multiple GPUs. But still, letting the GPU decode the RED footage for playback should dramatically lighten the load on the CPU, which is a welcome change indeed.

Now, if only Apple would support Nvidia on Mojave.

Given Apple carries Red Raven, it is nearly ironic that they don’t/won’t.

But still very glad to see this materialize for windows (which is probably the better editing/gfx workstation overall)

I have taken a break from the workstation life. I don’t own a computer right now, other than an old laptop for email and documents.

Will be nice to have an eGPU and a laptop that can play Red footy. I don’t edit much, but when i color or throw short edits together, it would be nice to do it with finesse. Mostly i just analyze and do sample grades, so i was getting by with an older setup and a calibrated monitor, but smooth playback was something i didn’t have. Didn’t really care for either. Ever since HD and digital was graced upon us, it has just been one mess of an upgrading process. With everything becoming more format agnostic, the constant changing is becoming normal and doable now. Bravo to Red and Nvidia.
