Red Camera & Compound Coming To Las Vegas

Good info. Is this the plan B for RED since every company on the planet will have scarlet like camera around the same time scarlet goes live.

I think its fantastic. Nevada could see a production boom. La is crowded and down time in Vegas is a lot more fun.

Thanks Richard.

Jason. I've lived in Las Vegas since 1958... Yeah. I'm an old fart. Seen a lot of
changes in that time. The recession finally caught up with us about 1.5 yrs. back.

We definetely can use a development like this to infuse some growth to our
state's economy. Not to mention some "credibility" that this kind of facility would
create.

I hope it follows through.

Well, if the Scarlet doesn't catch up, they can just open some tables to make up revenue... :)

On a more serious note, having RED in Vegas would truly be an incentive for me to visit the place. Been there in 2005. The main problem to get to Vegas is that it seems you guys lack international flights: we need to do transfers in LA to get there. This coming from Asia.

SPZ,

I can symphathize with the lack of air options. McCarran is an "International"
airport. However, I'm sure the current status of the economy dictates what
airlines will offer international direct flights to Las Vegas, NV.

Once it turns around, I would venture to say (hopefully) things will change. I know
the Chamber Of Commerce is really trying to cater to the Asian market as well.

Jim's plan for vegas was discussed at length last year. This is just the latest checkmark on the list of things along the way of his original vision.

I'm still amazed, at the sheer numbers of people who are still almost completely oblivious as to what is actually going on. Perhaps five or ten years of hindsight for many will make things clearer.

As with most things, you either get it or you don't. Its like learning to ride a bicycle. There is a period where you don't have balance, and then you have the distinction of getting balance and can ride. No amount of studying books or having discussions online with people will get you balance. That's just a complete waste of energy. Having opinions about balance have zero effect on whether someone has balance or not.

Thirteenth para down says

Olivet said he expects the Red campus, when completed, to create 1,000 to 2,000 jobs, many of them direct Red employees and other “immediate partners.”

woah !

Jim realizes that Ca is dieing and he wants nothing to do with the tax and spend knuckleheads in Sac and the OC. Good for him for telling F U Kalifornia!

I know there's a tax break and he's saving money and it's close to Hollywood but what are the utility costs for something that big in the desert? I would think there are greener places to build such a facility. Of course this being RED, they probably have their own solar cell tech built into the roof, parking lot, windows, etc.

Better yet, how cool would it be if they built the Wildfire Facility from Andromeda Strain?
