Red Banding - Color Sampling fix? DVX

Is there any way to remove the blockiness that occurs in reds and blues on the DVX? I know what the problem is, but it makes any footage with those colors look like utter crap.

How can I fix this problem in FCP?

If there's no way to fix it in FCP, is there a software I can download to fix this issue?

What about camera settings? Is there a way I can change my settings to minimize this blockiness?

You could try using Graeme Nattress' G Chroma Smoother filter. Part of the reason the colors can look so blocky in FCP, compared to other NLEs, is that FCP's DV codec doesn't have any inherent chorma smoothing applied. So although the image can be more ugly it's also more accurate so it will be less susceptible to degradation due to rounding errors as the image gets processed during post.

I'm hesitant to spend $100 for something that I don't have proof will work :-/
Also, I didn't notice the banding when played on my television. Is that normal for this problem?

I believe you can get free demo's of all Grame's products.

Seeing different images on your TV than on your computer monitor using FCP is common and is caused by a variety of factors.
