RED/AE workflow?

Anyone know/have any ideas of workflow with RED Footage (transcoded to ProRes422 HQ) with After Effects?

I have two shots of a phone with green covering the screen, and composite a fake screen into it...and bring it back to the sequence in FCP.

The workflow with ProRes would be exactly the same as any other workflow within AE. Sorry if that sounds vague, but I'm trying to gauge what your experience level is with AE and ProRes.

I'd use RedCine to export TIFF sequences of the green screen shots in question, and deal with them in AE that way. Then, after you have done your keying and compositing, export from AE as ProRes and get it into Final Cut.

That would be the best way to do it if you have access to the Red files. You can use RedRushes or RedAlert to output the TIFF sequence. You should also do a test by exporting the TIFFs in either Rec709 or Linear gamma space from the Red apps to see which yields the best key for you.

Keying from the ProRes file is fine, but as Sean suggested, TIFFs would give you the best results.

Yeah, go Tiff or DPX with a color space of Redspace or CameraRGB (close, but Redspace is a bit more saturated) and a gamma of REC709. For our workflow here, it ends up looking like it did on set (but go for another gamma if you're going to film). REDAlert allows you to set ins and outs for a clip and render it out, which is nice for single clips.
