recreating the past. Advice sought...

I have a production that requires two scenes that take place in rural Hawaii in the mid 1950’s. Coupla questions:

1)one scene is on a basketball court. Anyone have any idea what kind of attire Hawaiian kids might wear in the mid 50’s? I’m thinking blue jean with cuffs and rubber slippers and no shirts. Any suggestions?

2)Another scene takes place in the bedroom of a 7 year old Hawaiian kid. Any ideas what a bedroom might look like 50 years ago? I’m thinking WW2 might still be fresh in people’s heads and maybe some kind of black and white war poster? What kind of toys might a kid have in that time and place?

Thanks for any assistance.

1) Not sure what they'd wear, but try to find some archival footage of how the game was played. Much different shooting style than used today. Don't want a bunch of Jordan wannabes in cutoffs as your scene.

2) Model airplanes, baseball penants, maybe an old leather baseball glove and wood bat, some period toys ... that ought to be enough to set the mood.
