Recording voiceover with Rode NTG2

I'm recording voiceovers for lowbudget TV program at my flat with Rode NTG2. I know this mic isn't appropriate for recording voiceovers, but thats all I have for now. My flat of course isn't studio, just normal flat :) I have no pop-filter or sound booth.
My question is: How should I use this mic for this situation? I mean: what distance from narrator, what angle, with or without foam windshield on...? What could you recommend me. Thanks for any help.

Glue together a box out of foam-core board about 2 feet square on each side. Leave one side open and line it with acoustic foam. Put the box on your desk with the open side facing the narrator and put the mic on a desk stand inside the box positioned all the way to the back wall (make a small hole for the cable to exit) with the mic pointed at the narrator's mouth. You want to make sure the box is large enough that the end of the mic is well inside so there's absorbing foam on all sides. Voila! instant voice-over booth for a total cost of maybe $20.

Great idea! I had forgotten about the Porta-Booth...

BTW, should i point the mic to the narrator straight, from above, from below or from the side or it doesnt matter?

3. Shotgun - I keep it about 8 inches, straight on (as you get off axis, the tone will change) to 20 degrees off so the bottom of the capsule is at the top of the upper lip.

Bottom of mic capsule at the top of upper lip. You're kind of pointing it between the nose & upper lip.
