Recording using Quicktime

I am trying to record some ADR using Quicktime Pro, but the computer's recording level is set extremely low, and I can't see how to raise it...I am using a cheap microphone, but I also tried with my shotgun, to the same effect. Any idea on how I can raise the recording volume?
Thanks,
Andrew

My guess would be it is feeding line-in rather than mic in. I'm not sure what platform you're running, but make sure that all your volume levels are up (if you're on Windows, double click on the speaker on the tool bar and then you get all your volume levels.)

I'm using Windows, and as near as I can tell, all my levels are turned up...I can't figure it out.

I will try not to be negative here but your doing ADR right? You need to be using an audio program. I'm not being a snob there are plenty of cheap or free Win. programs the can do a decent job of recording. I work on a Mac and let me say Quick time anything is NOT the way to go. Do a Google and find something that is atleast close to what you need.

Audacity is a nice open source/freeware type of product that could help you out on Windows. Do a google to find the download sites.
