Recording stereo track from Rode Stereo Videomic Pro into Zoom H4n

Title pretty much says it all. Can I use one of the XLR inputs with one of the adapters to record a stereo track with the Rode Stereo Videomic Pro?
So far I have gone through the manual and tried many different configurations, but my understanding is that I need two microfones to record stereo without the on-board microfones in 4CH mode.
Everytime it gets recorded only into either the left or right track.

It is not possible, right? Can somebody confirm this?

The Rode STEREO Video Mix Pro should plug directly into the 1/8 inch external mic jack on the Zoom. That is a stereo input and plugging in there overrides the built-in microphones, resulting in a stereo track. You can't send a stereo signal into just one of the XLRs and get a stereo recording as they are mono inputs. As Gary said, to use the XLR you have to have a stereo 1/8 to dual XLR Y cable so the mic's stereo output is split so each channel goes a separate XLR.

Ah, thanks. A lot.

So, now I am looking at the pro snake Adapter Cable XLR - Mini Jack (I hope this does not count as promotion here) but obviously I can not connect that to one of the Rode Videomic Pros. Can you tell me the proper name of the adapter that connects two 3.5mm inputs to one another? There has to be one like that but I don't know what you call them, or I have to find a Stereo Dual XLR Y adapter with a 3.5mm output.

You want a Y cable with a 1.8 stereo jack to dual male XLR

I understood that, but I couldn't find one (on google) where I could plug this one in. Or maybe I am totally misunderstanding something. All these technical terms in a language that is not my first one are confusing.

Your illustration is of a TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) Stereo Male Plug. It plugs into a TRS Stereo Female Jack. A jack used on the end of a cable is called an "Inline Jack." The Mono version of those connectors are called TS for Tip, Sleeve, and only have one little insulating ring down near the end unlike the two rings on the TRS you pictured. The XLR connector with holes is a Female XLR, abbreviated XLRF. The one with the prongs is a Male XLR, abbreviated XLRM.

Why do you want to plug the Video Mic into the XLR inputs in the first place? I don't see how there's any advantage to doing that.
