Recording speed - did I screw up?

Hi, I used my DVX100 in anger for the first time last weekend to film a boxing event. Until then it had been used as a mundane training. I didn't have much time to prepare, but I did a little reading, and it looked like recording at a higher frame rate would make the fast action smoother - especially if I wanted to do some slow motion cut scenes (which i do). The trouble is that whilst the sound, sounds fine - the video appears too fast. Maybe about 15-20% too fast.

I shot the video using a shutter speed of 60, which was about as fast as I could get it with the desirable aperture of F4, in the lighting conditions. Does that have something to do with it? or is it something else? Sorry to be asking such newbie questions, but I'm sure someone here can save me hours or days of time trying to find the answer, and I'm worried that I will let down my friends who asked me to film it. They're expecting the DVD this weekend!

I'm hoping there is a way in FCP that I can slow down the video but keep the audio the same, and still synced. I'd also like to know what I did wrong, so I can do better next time.

any help would be much appreciated.

so I've worked out it's not to do with shutter speeds, but probably something to do with my capture settings.

The clip information shows it's been captured at 25fps. I remember choosing scene F1 on the camera, and a shutter speed of 60. I think I set the progressive mode to off.

Can anyone explain what I've done wrong, and what the correct capture settings should be?

thanks,

Tongzie
