Recording over previous footage... safe?

Has anyone noticed problems? Is there a limit to how many times you can record over footage? Or will you lose quality immediately?

Word.

You won't lose quality at all. However, with every added pass on your tape, you run the risk of particles flaking off of the tape and causing dropouts and head clog. So, yes you can do it, but I wouldn't do it for anything important.

If you have "gaps" in the new footage, would the timecode from the old footage make your capture program go crazy? (Don't know...just asking. )

I would guess that it could cause problems with some captures. I guess I never thought of that.

Well, I keep seeing questions about broken timecode, but I've never experienced any problems with Vegas' capture, so....maybe it's those other icky programs that hiccup. :)

I've never had any problems either. It's good being a Vegas user.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
