Recording Live Band Audio??

I'll be filming a live concert event and want to know if there is a way to adjust the audio on the DVX100b so I can pick up the live audio from the band without it redlining. The plan is record the live audio as a reference, so when editing we can sync up the mastered tracks and mix a music video. Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

I have an HVX, not a DVX, but I'm pretty sure the mic gain is the same on both. There's 2 dials on the back of the camera with an arrow on it, you just turn these with your finger until you get your desired level. I filmed a concert a while back with nothing but a stock HVX, and was able to get some pretty decent audio just from sitting on a balcony that looked down to the stage. I lucked out because I knew the bands so I just got them to do a a sound check before the show so I could get my levels set, but if you can't do that, just quickly set your levels as soon as the band starts playing. I tried to get my levels about 3/4 of the way to clipping at the loudest part of their sound check.

If you're syncing with live recording anyway it's not all that important if you switch the dial around periodically to get it right. Are you getting one full track, a recorder running the whole time instead of cut to finished songs? I always try to get one of those so I only have to sync one part to start with.
