Recording interview...

Hi.

I'm going to record my first little sport interview soon. I have an interviewer who will be using handheld dynamic mic. Just wanted to ask what is the best way to record interviews...Do you use limiter? Compressor? Completely flat and just watch the meters and do everything in the post?

My set-up:

- SHURE SM58 with windscreen
- M-Audio 410
- Cubase SX
- laptop
- Sennheiser HD25

Thanks.

hey,

roll the sucker completely clean, except for maybe a TOUCH of a limiter to keep you save if levels freak out, but otherwise clean.

You can fix dynamics and everything else in post.

The main thing you should watch for, i think, would be the SM58 - its a very proximity driven mic, so try and keep your mic-to-mouth distances quite constant when you find one you like.

good luck, that should be pretty fun...

Thanks, timapter! That is what I am going to do. Yep, I have to do some practice before the interview...:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
