Recording Interview in Bratislava with no sound gear . . .

I'm about to leave to shoot a documentary in Israel and Jordan. At the last moment the opportunity to do an interesting interview in Bratislava before heading home crept up . . . only problem is that I have to send all of my production gear back with the rest of the crew (they have to go home after Jordan because of the budget - they have to take the production gear with them due to rental and carnet issues).
So I'm going to be in Bratislava shooting only one (albeit very interesting) interview on a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1, but I need an inexpensive (practically free) sound solution for this one interview. Of course it doesn't help that I'm not familiar yet with this particular Lumix and have no idea of my sound options there. Can I plug an external mic into it somehow? I'm doubting it.
Have thought about trying to use my ipod as an audio capture device with some sort of accessory mic, but this again is something I have no experience with (well that goes for all things audio really).
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Cheers,
James
P.S. Apologies in advance if a question like this has already been posted . . . I search for five minutes and then gave up.

The info I found online says that camera has no microhone input. Perhaps the lowest-cost (and lowest-profile) solution would be a <$50 "memo recorder" of the kind that is just slightly bigger than a stick of gum. Turn it on and put it in the subject's breast pocket.

I saw one at the big-box membership warehouse for ~$35 and it had an external mic jack

Bratislava is a wonderful city, I have a house there.

Contact Panter in Prague - they are the Nagra and Sennheiser agents for Slovakia and the Czech Republic and should know any hire companies there.

If this is not suitable, send me a PM and I should be able to let you have contact details of someone who may be able to help. I have contact with the amateur recording club in Slovakia.

Thank you very much for the suggestions and offers of further help. A friend has just solved this one for me by letting me take his Zoom H4n with me. I had no idea he owned it (and actually had no idea what "it" was until he explained).

So I think I'm set.

Cheers.

Bratslava is closer to Vienna...

But for close up, test the GH-1 itself... sure it's not 'pro', sure it may have problems in 'noisy' environments, but if you interview is in a reasonably quiet area, it may just work.

I know, I drive there several times a year - but Panter are the agent for Slovakia as well as the Czech Republic and would know of any hire companies in Bratislava.

And there is the film studio "Koliba" on the hill on the edge of Bratislava.

Also the Czech and Slovak languages are very close and mutually understandable - and they speak German in Vienna.

Hi. I have to shoot an interview but I have no camera..any suggestions would be helpful. I have a cassette recorder but not sure what to do about the camera. It's a great opportunity so I may have to shoot it without a camera but would prefer to have one.

The image doesn't look as good if you shoot it without a camera!
