Recording from FCP onto camera

hey all,

i want to record directly from fcp onto the dvx to have an information rich file on mini dv, but i can't seem to get the image to come up on the camera when i link it up with the firewire. i had a cheapie dv camera that i used to do this with and it worked perfectly. is there some sort of setting that i need to set on the dvx in order to have the camera read images FROM the computer?

What camera are you using? You might not have to set anything on the camera side. In FCP go to View-->Refresh Devices, do this to make sure FCP 'sees' the the camera. Then Go View-->External-->All Frames. Then do the same for audio, View-->Audio-->Follows Video. That should work.
 
Also make sure your camera is in VTR mode. Felt like an idiot many times for not hitting that little button....
