Recording a phone call (advice?)

Thanks, guys. I ended up laving the phone and it sounds okay-ish.

But, now I'm wondering about something. I want the prisoner to start calling in to tell his story to me. So... I want the best sound I can get. No video. Only audio of the incoming phone call (my voice needn't be recorded).

The problem is... ex. whenever a third party picks up the phone, the prison detects this, and immediately hangs up the phone. The prisoner can only call one person and have one connection (so two phones cannot receive his phone call at one location, although he can speak over a speaker phone on the receiving side).

My question is... if I was to use a JK Audio product (THAT2 or BROADCAST HOST), do you think the prison would detect this (thus hanging up the phone)?

Any help would be appreciated.
 
i use the JK Audio box.

haven't used it much but when i did it worked great!

i don't know for sure but i would give gotham a call because i think they might rent the various JK Audio interface boxes.

another obscure thing you won't need till you need it is the remote audio aircraft intercom interface cable.

it works great and i have used that quite a bit.

we need a new thread where people post all the stuff in their kit...

not just the obvious stuff, i mean post that too, but the odd stuff like the aviation adaptor or i have some odd grip stuff that is great for mounting a plant mic when you are in a tough situation and you need something quick and reliable.

i don't like to pack something into my kit unless it has at least 2 or 3 uses or it does something really obscure that nothing else can do...

Thanks, Matthew. I'm going to use the JK Audio THAT 2 and connect it to my camera (xlr). I'll report back on how it goes.
 
One more question.... while using the THAT 2, what is my best choice for the audio recording. Camera? Recorder? There will be NO video, only audio capture. (I have access to a Tascam HD-P2)
