Record start/stop control

According to the schematic, looks like you just need to wire a momentary switch to the tip and the ground terminals and it should work. The ring is for zoom control so don't solder anything to that terminal and you should be good to go.

Or just use the remote that came with the camera...

Um...one did come with it, didn't it? I've got two. One for the DV203 and one for the DVX.

Um...or did I buy that second one separately from Panasonic? Memory is the second thing to go...

yeah i thought about the cameras remote control but i need something for use on a fig rig and i thought a simple cable with a button would work well that way i can just tape it to the rig near my thumb position. im gonna give it a shot in the next few days.

Like Chainsmoker said, you can make a super simple record/pause button by just eliminating the zoom controls from the wire diagram I posted somewhere on the board.

And what the HPX170. Is the start/stop schematic control the same?
And do I need a stereo plug or can I also use a 2,5mm mono plug into the camera?

I just hooked the simple start/stop control i made for my DVX100A to my HMC150 and it worked perfectly.

I used a stereo 2.5 miniplug cable

I made one for my DVX, and planned on adding a zoom control but could never find the right POT, so essentially it's what you're looking for. Cost me $5 in parts.. big savior at times. Just follow that guide and skip everything that has to do with the zoom control.
