Record directly to Harddrive?

What kind of harddrive would I need to be able to record directly onto it from my DVX?
I heard about something like this before, but it sounded ridiculously expensive. Has that changed?

Thanks,

Or, you can check out Real stream. For $2500, they open your dvx, and install a USB port bypassing the mini dv compression-allowing you to record uncompressed digital video to any usb hard drive you want. Check it out:

Yeah, the thing about that is you still have to pass through a Mac System to capture. And I don't get why they use USB, when they could install a firewire port and allow things to run with extra head room. Plus, you could then use it on a HVX for that extra data that needs to flow, variable frame rates and all.
