Record audioo on minidisc?

Hey,
i use a dvc30 with a Rode Videomic
my friend wants me record their band on film. I know i could just leave the camera stationary in the middle and keep it boring, but i want to make it alittle more interesting.

i have a minidick recorder, and was thinking maybe i could record the track onto the dick, then videotape them playing and splice clips into the audio.

Am i comming at this right? iv never done this befor

The quality isn't quite as good as it is compressed audio, but if you are live micing a band it usually isn't going to be the best recording anyway and probably will be good enough. If they are micing their entire setup, always best to get direct outs of the mixer, but thats not usually the case. Not sure how or where your shooting it, but if not walking through crowds, you could just have a long mic cable direct into the camera and just be sure not to trip. Otherwise, minidick (hehe) should work good.
