Recommended Lighter legs for Manfrotto 503 head?

Years ago when I was using my HVX202 I bought a Manfrotto 503 head and legs in a pack...

While all excellent..I found the whole setup bulky and time consuming to set up..particularly with the legs...so have mainly used my Manfrotto 190...particularly now I use a DSLR...is lesser quality...but just a lot more practical.

I want to update the tripod to something more nimble and better quality....but it has occurred to me I could possibly still use this old 503 head and just get some legs that make the process easier.

Can anyone recommend a good set of legs that are quick to setup..more portable...and will cope with the weight of the 503 head...?

My 503 had the bowl style connector...

Thanks for any tips.

Big question is the camera you're using it with... and is your bowl hard-fixed, or removeable? (IIRC the 503 has a flat base???)

...that said, I've used the 503 head with a set of Manfrotto 755XB legs for over 10 years... the combo of riser with a small bowl level makes setups quick, but a rigged FS5 is about the most weight it will reasonably handle.

Thanks..I'm using a Samsung NX1...with a Mix Pre 6 attached + Rode Wireless Kit sometimes...

The current 503 has a bowl shape design..when I unscrew the centre pillar part...the underneath bowl part has a nut on it that it looks like it might be able to be removed..but I'm not sure if that means I can use it on all tripods..or whether I need to get a 'bowl style' set of legs?

Are there two types of 503's? Flat base...and bowl shaped 503's?
