Can anybody in here recommend to me a good, quality brand of DV tape to record on. I've heard some people have had problems with maxwell, and was wondering if there were other brands i should avoid.

I would use the Panasonic MQ 63's (The White ones). They have the best quality for the buck.

I shoot Sony Premiums. You can basically get them anywhere that sells miniDV, so when I need tape THAT DAY I can just go to the store and buy a few. The quality is also excellent, never had a dropout. With the Panasonic PQ or MQ's you kind of pigeonhole yourself. THe only place I've ever seen them for sale is online. If you run out of tapes and need more you either a)have to tape over footage b)wait a few days for the tapes to get shipped or c)bite the bullet and shoot with a different brand for the shot you need.

There are plenty of Brick and Mortar places that sell them, it just depends where you live. I'm not talking BestBuy or Walgreens..

i was wondering if its ok to go between the amq tapes and mq's i know they are the same brand and staying in the same brand is what is recomended but what about about going between differ types within the brand? also is leaving the tapes in a hot car a bad thing even though they are in a bag or box?

$5.99 or so. Check out either bhphotovideo or evsonline.
I live in Italy, where could I buy trough internet these tapes? Italian online shops costs very much (€ 10 each tape):(

Yep this is the situation i'm in. I had to go with the sony's for now because they were available everywhere and the Panasonic MQ's / AMQ's aren't.

Just like Sink said it really depends on where you live. If you can find the Panasonics readily available then I would definitely go that route but if it's easier for the sony's I would weigh the pro's and con's
