Hello, I'm almost finished editing my first music video in FCP and will soon be exporting to AE to do color correction work with Magic Bullet Looks (will also be adding visual fx in AE).
I want to ensure that my color correction workflow is efficient, so I have a few questions:
- when exporting from Final Cut Pro is it critical to use the same codec that the footage was originally transcoded to? (original footage was transcoded to ProRes 422)
- once footage is imported into AE, should each shot be separated into its own composition? If so what is the most efficient way to accomplish this for the purposes of color correction? And if this method is used, is there a way to export multiple compositions at once?
- Alternatively, if the entire music video clip is to remain in tact, what is the most efficient way to color correct each shot in the timeline? Would adding an adjustment layer and then keyframing individual Looks settings needed for each shot be a solution?
