can you guys please list some of your favorite dvd's you've found benificial to watch with BTS featurettes?

E.G. Lord of the rings 4 dvd set
Day of the dead 2 dvd

etc.....

Underworld Evolutions. Listen to the directors commentary. It has the SFX guy, the Set Guy, the DP i think, and some others too. They give some good technical info as well as cool tricks they used in the process.

A History of Violence has excellent BTS as well. The viewer gets great insight into how the director approaches a scene.

A Very Long Engagement BTS (I wasn't strong enough to watch the whole thing again with French commentary and English subtitles on the commentary)
Zoolander Commentary (Surprisingly, it gives alot of insight into the way they wrote it and how writing a script changes)
The Matrix BTS
Crash Commentary
King Kong BTS / Commentary
Pirates of the Carribean Commentary / BTS
Pirates of the Carribean 2 Commentary / BTS (The behind the scenes just makes me sad that the shoots are so gargantuan, I'll never be working on something that big)
Anchorman UNRATED Commentary (it's just so hilarious. everyone needs to listen to it once or twice)
Cold Mountain BTS

I can't think of any more right now that I really enjoyed. Right now as you can see I'm trying to not stick with one genre o' movie.

Bad Boys II 2 Disc Set - The 2nd disc has a TON of great insight as to Pre-Viz, Visual FX, etc.

Tombstone - Interesting notes from Cosmatos on period specific thoughts.

Desperado - Really informative look at how Rodriguez blocked scenes with a handheld camera before shooting. A pretty cool way to storyboard.

Indiana Jones Box Set - There's a whole fourth disc full of great featurettes on everything from stunts to visual effects. Quality.

Spiderman 2 - Great little featurette from the soud guys, showing the time they spent foleying ALL of the sound effects from scratch. Really impressive.

...Thats what I have off the top of my head... I'll post more if I get an epiphany

I love a BTS where you can see the setups on the set. Lights, camera rigs etc..

I never watch deleted scenes

I like commentaries with the director / lead actors / DP

I like storyboards as a special feature

The Terminator 2 Special Edition (and Ultimate Edition, etc) all have some excellent features about the production. There's even a copy of the original script, if I recall.

Maybe, but then you have to live down the shame of owning this set, don't you? Same logic that prevented me from buying the awesome multidisc Pearl Harbor set.

The Black Hawk Down multi-disc set is fantastic in this regard, though. Lots of lots of stuff both about the production and history of the event.

Battle of Algiers, Criterion edition, is exceptional. Same with The Royal Tenenbaums Criterion. Hell, pretty much any Criterion disc, as stands to reason.
