Hey, new to the forum.
I am a first year film student and was looking to study audio, but am thinking of changing to a cinematography emphasis. Can anyone recommend a book that gets you started and brings you an adequate level of knowledge in cinematography. I was going to get the "The Hands On Manual For Cinematographers" by David Samuelson, but I saw that it dealt only with film cameras. Is there something else that deals more in the digital arena? Since I won't be shooting with film. I plan to be reading the book over summer as I work to buy a DVX or something similar.

I'm going to the Art Institute of Chicago for Digital Fimmaking. I took cinematography last quarter and we were required this text book;

http://www.amazon.com/Cinematography-Making-Cinematographers-Directors-Videographers/dp/0240805003/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-1631624-8713763?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179469524&sr=8-2

It's prolly one of the most useful and interesting text books I have ever read. It's a great reference book, more like a hand book for cinematographers or DP.

I hope it helps.

Seconded, great guide
