hey there,

I'm getting close to purchasing this camera (can't wait!) and wonder if there are any "must have" accessories to get at the same time. I need to keep my costs as low as possible, but also want to be really functional right from the start.

thanks for your input!

Tripod, good mono Mic, P2 cards(the more the merrier), Extra batteries, extra charger, A book from Barry, lights, gels, black wrap, duvatyne, clothespins(C-47's), a few nice cases to store things in.

I could prolly go on and on, lol. There is never a lack of good equipment to invest in.

Hey Nick,
Sorry, I didn't express myself very well... I know what I need for production (and have that) but as to that camera specifically - is the 5400 mAh battery power adequate, or getting a second one, is it much better to have a 5600 mAh battery? Are there any specific adjustments to the hot shoe one would recommend as something I'd prob. want? Should I spring for some kind of zoom/focus controller because there's some difficulty with slow zooms or whatever (if any)?

thanks

For power, I've got 3 5400Mah batteries, and I do pretty well...although I've been thinking of getting 1-2 more as I usually end up lending out my batteries when there are more cameras.

Hot shoe wise, the only thing I stick in their now is a Mic holder. An external monitor(DP1, Manhattan LCD, or Marshall) along with a Noga arm, or something like that wouldn't hurt.

I also have seen quite a few people invest in on camera lights to slap in the shoe....I myself try to light with bigger off-camera lights and bounce boards, but it depends on what you're doing.

as for zoom/focus/iris, Varizoom makes some good stuff, and depending on what kinda work you'll be doing it could come in handy...especially if you have yourself an AC who can man the controls.

Also a wide angle can't hurt, but can be expensive...don't skimp and buy the first thing that pops up on E-bay....it can help alot when you're doing something in cramped quarters.
