recommended 35mm adapter?

yes, I'm thinking of buying a 35mm adapter for some nice shallow DOF on my DVX....I've checked footage and reviews out of the Letus, G5 and redrock....but I don't even know if they're all for DVX or which is best...

so, which adapter do you recommend? I'd like to minimize grain or whatever if I could, and I can only spend maximum 800 dollars or so.

thanks!

I do plan to research whatever you guys would recommend. Not just go and buy like it may have sounded. I just want to know the best place to start.

Well, I'll put it this way then: what are some drawbacks (or just one major one) to the letus35 adapter? Is there something out there that is superior to that one for the price? (under 800-ish)

There's an entire 35mm adapter subsection of the forum with some very informative stickies. You should go check those out.

you need to research EVERY adapter and find out which one is for you... instead of just researching the one we recommend to you.

Give the dude a break. Part of doing research IS asking opinions on the forums.

I had the Letus35, I hated it as it always got dirty on the inside due to the poor design. I now own the Brevis35 and must say that it's by far better then any adapter that I worked with. I also spent a ton of time reviewing footage from experienced shooters and the Brevis seemed to provide better footage then all of the other adapters.

Try looking at the sgpro. I've been looking at adapters for about 2 years and I've seen consistant great results from it.

Try to find footage from each adapter and compare for yourself. Smettli always has great posts with sgpro footage.

Some other adapters include the redrock m2, brevis and letus35. All adapters have pros and cons. You have to find the one thats right for you.

Hey man. I would definately go for the sgpro, it's razor sharp, no vignetting and renders the bokeh(blurry out of focus area) very nice. It doens't loose very much light either(about one stop). The difference between, lets say, the brevis and the sgpro, is that the brevis is more compact in size and with the sgpro you need rails and its longer and bigger. I have been watching and following the evolution of the indie made 35mm adapters for years now and watch every clip sample I could come over and I personally think the sgpro produces the best image I have seen from a 35mm adapter(using the right lenses of course). This is where someone would argue with me and say that the Geurilla35(G35) is the best thing out there, but then again, the last time I saw the G35 it was a static design(which makes the image more grainy as you lock down the aperture on your 35mm slr lens) and it never really hit market. The most important thing of all, you have to choose the adapter that produces the image you prefer, they all have different looks, and use good glass infront of it. A good adapter wont turn your 20$ plastic lens into a zeiss cinema lens.
But since you were asking, my subjective opinion is that the sgpro produces the cleanest, nicest, sharpest and vignette free image of the adapters out there.

Good luck to you :)
Cheers.
