Does any one have any recommendations for a well priced (below $4000) 1080p plasma tv, or LCD, etc.

I am looking to get one to set up in a studio and I want to use it showcase HD video work, hi-res still photos, and motion-graphics work.

Also, I would want to use the TV as a possible large production monitor as well.

Cheers,

Casey W.

Well, you have quite a large budget there for your TV. I just purchased a Samsung A550, 40" 1080p TV for $1599.99 CDN and I love it. I watch my Blu-rays on it and can hook up my camera to watch full HD footage. Fantastic color reproduction and sharp as a tack.

There are better TVs than mine for sure, but I would at least recommend a Samsung TV or a Sharp Aquous - now those are brilliant.

I wasn't too impressed with the Sony Bravias, LG or Toshiba TVs.

Yep. I have a Sharp Aquos 42" 1080p LCD that I got for $1300 last August. Since then they're even cheaper I imagine.

You got plenty of budget to find yourself a good TV there, so if you're thinking for a field monitor I guess the next priority is portability? So, maybe smaller than 42"?

I'd be scared shitless to be moving that baby back and forth.

Nice, I checked that one out online, it looks like a great deal for the quality.

I am looking for something around 42" and up. It doesnt have to be too portable, but just in case I want to use it as a large on-set monitor, I want to make sure it can provide the image quality, etc.

My primary goal is going to be using the TV for a studio display showcasing photos, video, etc.

I was waiting for OLED HDTV but after reading this article, I'm not too sure.

The OLED technology is simply stunning. I saw a small....(I think about 15 or so inches) mini OLED monitor hooked up to a PS3 at the Sony Style store yesterday....that little thing was pumping out an incredibly stunning image...I could not believe the quality and the thin factor....I mean if they made a 42" HDTV with that...it would rock

When looking at some plasma televisions in a big box store, I found far and away the Pioneer screens kicked a$$. The picture was just stunning compared to the other models.

Granted, this was reflected in the price as well.
