Recommendation for wireless cube for shotgun

Shooting an ensemble doc piece and probably gonna be a pain to use cable on shotgun- I've got ME-66 and Oktava MK-12, want to rig up some kind of wireless box to them instead of using cable, can anyone recommend one they've used? Thanks.

While I've never done wireless boom personally, there are really only two acceptable options: Zaxcom and Lectro 4xx series. And, even the Lectro is questionable, and neither is really recommended. Almost all of the mixers I've ever chatted with are going to the boom with a wire. Most are doing a wireless hop to the camera when running double system.

I'm sure others will chime in, since we do have a few people here that probably have gone wireless.

BTW, to get into a basic Zaxcom system, you will need to budget in the neighborhood of $3-4K, and the lectro probably just a bit less.

I tried wireless shotgun once but just for fun. I used lectro and sennhaiser butt plugs. It worked fine fine for me. You just have to make sure you change the batteries every some time. Why don't you try boom pole with internal cable and then coil cable going from the pole to the mixer. That makes life much easier.

There are a lot of TV shows that are wireless boom exclusively (All the CSI shows, NCIS, ...and so on). They use either the Zaxcom or Lectro 411's. If you don't need a lot of range, but it's for necessity, then any good system should suffice.
