Recommendation for Tutorial (or plug in) for Vegas 10 "Composting"??

I do general editing and complete most of my projects fairly competently using Vegas 10... I started using Vegas when it was version 3 (created by "Sonic Foundry) so I know the basics.

My experience with "Composting" is very limited. I want to be able to layer video tracks (successfully), use FX to manipulate characters (actors) against fluid backgrounds, etc. I can
accomplish a lot with chroma key and masking.... but Composting appears to be a pretty powerful process, or it should be if I can TEACH myself what to do.

Can anyone recommend a tutorial or series of tutorials that does a good job of teaching Composting... that also addresses when video Composting does a better job as compared to masking
or green screen? Should I try to find a "plug in" for Vegas 10? Even with a plug-in, I would still like to know the basics of Composting... Thank you for your suggestions!

I think you mean 'compositing' :)

If you've already worked out masking and greenscreening, those are the main compositing tools for Vegas or any other NLE - the main principle of compositing is showing only part of a video image to allow other video images to appear behind. You could check out some of the tutorials at http://filmmakeriq.com/2009/10/303-sony-vegas-tutorials/ for some specific examples of compositing effects in Vegas. Also look into the Pan/Crop tool if you haven't already - it's invaluable for moving images around on screen, which is frequently required for compositing.
