Recommendation for editing software

I think I'm giving up on Sony Vegas; Sony Vegas requires too much special treatment in order for it to work properly. I'm getting burned out on trying to fix it so it will work and I'm loosing time. Even though I have a powerful, double hard drive system, and am only using it for recording, editing digital music right now, I've discovered that the Sony won't work on just one hard drive, and isn't simple to configure. Do any of you know of a low maintenance type of editing software, a load and record type of product, one that is as good as Vegas, but much easier to operate and will work fine on almost any system? brw459@yahoo.com

For PC i believe, and i am sure there are varying opinions that premiere will give you the least trouble. There are things i have heard about vegas that work better than premiere however like 24p. Again its prefrence and some programs are better than others. Premiere 1.5 pro should be an easy install and all you need is firewire to handle dv and hdv. The great thing about PC is that you can have multiple NLEs installed and use whichever you prefer depending on your project (plus you can gain experience in multiple software) Avid Express is another one that people seem to like. One good thing about Premiere Pro is that it has keyboard presets for diffrent NLEs other than premiere. You can set it to work more like Final Cut (the only reason to do that is to get mroe firmialiar with it to be more competitive in the job market) I beleive you might be able to set it for Avid Express also (Could be mistaken) probably not vegas though. Hoped this helped
