Recommend some good conspiracy thrillers

I've got a story idea I'm trying to develop into a screenplay. It's going to be a conspiracy/mystery/thriller. A guy uncovers something way bigger than he set out to find. I'd like to watch as many good examples as possible to see how they build and maintain suspense and mystery while gradually unfolding the greater plot

Three Days of the Condor is kind of the prototype. Parallax View. All The President's Men. Marathon Man. There were a lot of these movies made in the 70's. North By Northwest isn't exactly this plot but it's recommended viewing as well. Of course JFK.

Batutta hit the two big ones in my opinion - Three days of the Condor and Marathon Man.
I would definitely start there if you haven't seen them before.

Seen most of those actually. All but Parallax View--I'll check that one out for sure. Three Days of the Condor is one of my favorites. My film is going to start with a man investigating a missing person. I just have to decide if I want the story to focus more on the protagonist or more on this missing person. Part of what I want to differ from Three Days of the Condor is that I that I don't want it to be so much of a chase movie. But I really like the chase, so I might end up with a ton of different drafts.

Others I've been watching are Enemy of the State and Mystic River. I like the mystery of Mystic River, but having almost multiple protagonists makes that one difficult for me to pull from. I like having the protagonist split off from everyone else. Any other good recommendations? Even just good mystery thrillers would help too.

This guy was in one of those films you're talking about, but the title eludes me….
