Recommend PC for Vegas 8?

Can anyone recommend a good PC base unit for Vegas 8?

I just need a tower but was looking at this for a spec http://www.cube247.co.uk/?customise=20

However i have heard a few horror stories about this company so just wondered what other people are using, or where would be the best place for a :

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Dual Core Processor
2048MB Corsair DDR II 667 Memory

For running Vegas Pro 8 at its best? - thanks..
 
I just built a PC around an Intel Quad Core and it rocks with Vegas. The specs are on my PC Equipment page on my web site. If you're not into building it yourself at least it will give you a good components list to go by.

Can I ask if this is for Vegas 8? and can it use the Quad core?

Also you have 4GB memory, but i thought XP can only utilise 3GB MAX?
 
Yes Vegas will take advantage of all of the cores while rendering. Did you see my rendering times for DV AVI to MPEG2? 1 minute of DV AVI renders to MPEG2 in only 19 seconds! That's 3x real-time!!! Quad Core is the way to go and the prices are half what I paid only 6 months ago.

You are correct that Windows XP will only take advantage of 3.25GB of the total 4GB of RAM but you can't only buy 3GB and run at double data rate. You must use matching pairs which means you waste memory until you upgrade to a 64-bit OS. Hopefully when Vegas 64-bit comes I will do that so the 4GB will not be wasted for long.

You can probably get away with 2GB. I also do some 3D work so I need all of the memory I can get.

On a slightly diff note - how would vegas 8 be on a new imac 2.4Ghz under bootcamp? i have heard some good things about the new Macs and Windows
