With a budget of $1,000 dollars or less, what would you buy and how would you mount it? Is Manhattan the best option, and if so, what model?

Thanks

8string, I've heard complaints from the glossy screen and hard to blind operate buttons on the back. how do you feel about those issues, and how are you mounting your DP1?

Sorry, not mounting on DP1, I have a HMC150. I mount it from the screw on mount on the top of the camera, but there are many ways to do it. The screen has screw ins on all four sides. You don't have to have it right in line of sight. You could hang it off a bracket, Halo Rig, or some other arm like device. I bought one of those little screw in extenders that allow me to get the LCD out of the way of line of sight.

I guess I don't have much to compare it with, but it's a lot better than the regular lcd for realistic color balance. Once setup, it seems like no big deal to operate. But again, I haven't been paid to buy a bunch and compare! (hint to any competitors out there?).

The screen is very glossy, but I think that you need a glossy screen for properly viewing color balance, or am I wrong? If you just want focus assist, get something cheaper.

It did come with two batteries (they don't hold a great charge!), and optional accessories like a nice carrying pouch and a sun hood, which you need outdoors.

Not sure it was worth the price, in that I don't use it everytime I shoot. I'll be keeping it for 1 year, and if it doesn't make sense I'll sell it. But for those times when clients want to see what's happening, it is a good optional tool to have around. Like all tools, when you need it, there's no comparison.
