Recommend a lav mic for Sennheiser G2 100 EW

Update: I got the 802 from Oscar Sound Tech.

My goodness - the difference compared to the stock mic is Night and Day! It sounds so much better. I particularly notice that it doesn't clip/distort if you suddenly speak loud, and there is none of this cable noise from clothes and such, which was a huge nuisance with the stock mic.

The sound is balanced and clear. It sounds very natural.

My experience here is - get the 802 if you want a very good lav mic under $100. This must be the one of the best deals there is, since from what I have seen, the competitors cost more.

Welcome to the growing list of converts. Having been a tram user, I was sceptical, but I don't even think about it now. I buy a new channel of wireless, I buy an OST. I use the 801s.

Same here, I got OSTs about a year ago to replace my aging and broken Trams & Milimics and never looked back. From the savings, I bought a pair of the OST TL40s to try as well... not as small as a B6, but small enough to hide behind medium or larger buttons, inside tie knots, and other mountings where I prefer an 'end-fire' mic.

Rick, I'm glad you mentioned owning some TL40s. Would you say they're sized about midway between the size of a B3 and a B6? Also, how would you describe their sound? There are times when I too need an end-address lav.

The TL-40 is the same diameter as my COS-11 but much shorter. Thinner than a B3 but slightly longer and not tapered. Not nearly as small as the B6, but 'a little' less susceptible to wind.
In terms of sound, it's flatter than the Tram or 801/802 and does not have the interchangeable caps of the B3/6. The TL-40 would not be my 1st choice 'buried' under clothing. The sensitivity is about the same as the Tram/801/802. It appears to be the same cable stock as the other OST mics. The build quality seems very solid, if fact I would think it to be unlikely the cable would ever separate from the capsule... A problem with original Trams'.
IMO, not as versatile as a B3... but for the price...
