Recommend a follow focus

First off if anyone has a used RR Follow Focus PM ME!

What are people on this forum using for a follow focus? The Indian Proaim? The INDIfocus?

Just give me you thoughts.

I don't recommend a follow focus. It adds substantial weight, takes time to adjust and when you're using a zoom lens you constantly need to play with the FF (remove/add) while setting the zoom. Finally, the FF is always on the wrong side and after you've played with it for awhile (mostly to impress people) you wind up leaving it in the bag due to the pain in the a-- factor. The same goes for the Mattbox but to a much lesser extent.

If you are shooting with an adapter and want your project to look professional I think you should definitely be using a FF. I have the redrock and it is rock solid. I have heard great things about the Zacuto as well if you have a few more bucks. Either way I think a FF is absolutely necessary.

Im trying to find a used one because I am not spending over 500 dollars US (im in Canada) on a follow focus.

Redrock Micro FF is very good & well built for the price especially if you can snatch a deal on Ebay
I think i paid, $500.00 for mine in excellent condition, with 5 shoot 35 lens gears and a whip, w shipping. It feels solid and it has a big crafted , geared wheel which is much more easy to turn and mark! I find the smaller ones, Petroff, Zacuto too small for my needs,
Cheers

I had a petroff and it was ok, it had a screw to adjust the play (I think I could be wrong ), it was a stupid idea the screw would always fall out. I traded in for the Zacuto one and it is great, its is a little more pette then the redrock one. I used the RR V1 and V2 and they are fine products, Steve from Zacuto made me a deal i couldn't refuse on their Z-focus.
