hi there,
just wondering if anyone could help me . i am using a sqn 2 4 channel mixer and i have upgraded to a sound device 442n. both have there advantages and disadvantages..

i am looking at purchasing a wendt five channel mixer. has anyone used one and could they tell me what its like?

thanks

Not that I've used any of the mixers you're talking about, but I've used several Sound Devices products and have been very happy with them. You might want to consider getting a MixPre or a 302 and bussing it into the 442 - 6 or 7 total inputs...

ditto.

i would try to stay with the sound devices.

i have a 302 and a 744t now.

i'm really close to getting a 442 or perhaps getting a mix-pre.

i'm pretty much in love with the sound devices gear. its just made so well i don't want to buy anything else.

what is like what - sound wise -how long it lives before go to garage ?
it sounds like wendt 4 whith one extra input.
never liked the wendt limiters but you can live with that if you dont use it to much .

except the problems feeding to zaxcom tx ( cant share the same power soaurse and have to be feed unbalance) i dont know anyone wasn't happy about .

by the way i owned , sqn s II and 4 iv befor and wendt 4
, i use sd 442 for last 4yars for now -- the faders sucks and there is not enouth gain on returns , otherwise the best bang for the buck
if you dont use 5 inputs all the time the sd is better
you can hook aditional mix pre or 302 for extra

if you need 5 all the time you can live with wendt

i use the 442 and 744T combo and absolutely love it.. i bought them to stay away from these damn sqns, i've used far too many noisy ones from hire companies etc.. can't tell you how long till mine goes to the shop, but its been extremely well behaved for a year. nice input and output limiters too.

I agree there isn't enough gain on return A though on the 442, i don't linsten to the camera return anymore (just occasionally check it to see if the sound IS still going onto it), swiched my return A to the 744T, so at least I know I am recording OK. :)

If you already have a 442, I would agree and say to get a SD 302 and Bus it to your 442.
