just a rant, but i read this on this guy website:

Highlights include:
XDCAM HD PDW-F350 Cinealta Camera with HD lens and variable frame rate.
DSR-450 DVCAM camera. Also shoots progressive.
JVC HD 201e 720p camcorder. The perfect camera for 35mm. Shoots 24p all the way to 60p.
Panasonic Varicam HVX200 HD camera with variable frame rate.
HDV kit containing Z1e, A1e and assortment of lenses and Steadicam.
35mm Cinema lens adaptors, for incredible true film look on Video.
Final Cut Pro HD and Avid Media Composer with Mojo. Mac Pro Quad.
Radial and track dollys. Covert filming kit.

let me know where the problem lies:

what you won is the right to know what people are listing as thier "talent" and selling off to client.

but don't this make you mad that people will sometimes list anything to make it sound good?

I dont see the big deal, doesnt look like hes listing talent, just listing equipment and made a small mistake.

And did you know DigiBeta looks just like film? At least that's what a production house kept trying to sell me when I got in the biz years and years ago. So this doesn't surprise me if it's not a mistake.

I don't see it as a small mistake when you claim to use all that equip and boasting 16 years experience

*shrug*

If this level of silly-ass f'd-up-ed-ness bothers you, you ought to sit in on a network pitch, some time and see how multi-million-dollar production projects get sold.

Then again, maybe you oughtn't. You'd probably have a stroke, and die...

I know sometimes I think I'm gonna...

I have actually used the varicam term myself when talking about the ability of the hvx to shoot different speed. Nothing wrong as long as people understand you are talking about the HVX.

consider we dont know all the information about his sight that you do

Sad Max, that is not the point -

imagine omeone saying you are something that you are not.

a hvx is not a varicam - would you feel better if someone said the dvx shoot HD?

Anyone who knows what either a Varicam or an HVX200 are knows the difference. He's not "fooling" anyone, if that's what you think he's trying to do . . .

I wouldn't feel better, or worse, about it, either way...maybe their DVX has been Andromedized.

Unless you have *lots* of time on your hands, and emotional energy to waste on minutae, someone making a silly-ass misrepresentation of their equipment on their website - deliberately, or otherwise - isn't worth more than a passing snicker.

If the guy claimed that he was some hugely hot DP, and claimed to have shot Lawrence of Arabia, or Days of Glory, or Saving Private Ryan, or something like that on a DVX, well, *that* would be a level of fraud worth calling him on. When you're done laughing.

Misrepresenting your equipment, and misrepresenting your professional experience, are very different things. The first can be written off as a foolish error, the second is always deliberate fraud.
