Received M2... need help on lenses

No, the M2 does not flip the image. The Letus35 Flip does: http://www.letus35.com/

However, you can easily pop the cover off of the LCD hinge and force the image flip. For production monitors on-set I just turn them upside-down.

So I won't need to correct the image in any way....just plug in to the monitor?

I tried that with my jvc 17" prod monitor but the image was distorted. Even when I forced the monitor to reset. I guess the guns don't like that orientation.

So, it seems many people are buying the M2. I was wondering a price range for them. If you could tell me, it would be nice. No need for links. just the basic's will be fine.

The M2 SD Bundle will run you $1000 while the M2 HD Bundle is $1300. Bundles include:

M2 Cinema Lens Adapter

Special M2 HD/SD Achromatic lens (depending on the bundle you get)

15mm Rod Support System

Your choice of SLR lens mount

M2 Cinematographer's cap

If you want to go with cinema lenses, you're looking at $1600 or $1750 for SD/HD. You can also buy the M2 seperately and buy accessories from there. Check out the website.

Their microFocus just came out. Looks good. While watching developments, I noticed they stated a number of times that pricing would be "well below $500."

Introductory Price: $495, $645 thereafter.

I got the Letus35 a couple of weeks ago, and gotta say those lads need to put a little more work into their packaging - just a box full of foam popcorn. Surprise, surprise - the glass was scratched when it arrived and now I need to go through the rigmorall of sending it back to them.

Tested the unit last week and it works alright but we underlit so the grain just looks sort of noisy.

That's in contrast with the M2 shipments I've seen in photos/user reports. The M2 adapters come shipped in a very solid, durable foam precut to accomodate the adapter exactly. From the looks of it, you could take this foam and place it in a hard case and have the perfect carrying setup for the adapter and rods. If only the box was shaped like a Pelican case, you could simply transfer the M2 from the shipping box to the Pelican!

The M2 is shipped by pack mule, hence the need for strong packaging.

(Sorry...can you tell I've been waiting almost 7 weeks? :cheesy:)

I felt the same way when I was waiting on my HVX. I guess in the meanwhile, did you already do the following:

Purchase 82-72mm step down adapter ring (for HVX200 owners)

Purchase lenses?

Red won't be out for more than 7 months. More like 2007. Perhaps the packaging on those will be in steel cases?

I've purchased lenses, a monitor, and an external battery for the M2. I've got everything I need...err, except the M2.

I feel like a kid who ordered something from the back of a cereal box. You know, the old, "Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery" deals. Those waits were always the toughest... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

go shoot a movie right now! you've got a perfectly good lens on your HVX today -

that's at least what I tell myself as I wait for my toy as well..

So If I ordered at the beginning of June when do you guys think I'd get it? Middle of July? That just sucks... if that's the turn around time.... Also any word on that other cinemek option?
