Reasonable Tutorial DVDs

Does anyone know of any good/decent tutorial DVDs for under $100. I understand I am asking for the impossible, but I don't want to spend more than my means. If I could justify spending more I would do so happily, but alas I'm not at that stage in my film making career. I refuse to resort to pirating, so any assistance with finding dvds in my price range would be appreciated. Oh, just in case... I did search and fine a few interesting threads on the issue, but hoped no one would mind me trying a new thread on the issue.

Thx

There is an online rental place that rents tutorial/training DVDs.... like hollywood cameraworks and such. I can't remember what the heck the name of the website is. My bro-in-law would know... maybe he will read this and post the name. I know that doesn't help much right now. :)

Wow!

Wow, I had no clue! I'll try to do a search, in the mean time maybe someone will know. Thanks for the information. I'm very eager to learn all I can about the craft. I may have to rent now, but I'll be sure to buy them later when I can. It's the least I can do for having the opportunity to learn more about the craft. Besides, I love owning source material =)

Thx again!

What sort of topics would you like to see covered on an inexpensive DVD?

Uh-oh.... I think this is a trick question =) {pardon my humor}

I totally understand... you get what you pay for. I know there are DVD sets out there that cost $500 and more that are worth every penny... and even more. I don't mean any harm by looking for cheap DVDs. It's find inexpensive DVDs or do without at the moment. I really want to learn more about the craft and $500 (as with a set I really, REALLY want) is currently out of the question.

It may be rude for me to be looking for cheap tutorial DVDs... I didn't mean to offend anyone who makes tutorials, etc.

I want to learn more about everything, but specifically cinematography. Even more specific.... more about working with camera supports (cranes, dollys, stabilizers, etc).

I wasn't trying to be a dick at all, man. I completely agree with you that a lot of the stuff is overpriced. I'd like to see some things available cheaper and a little more specialized.

Forgive any offense.

I agree. I'd like to see some things more specialized as well. I would like to learn as much as possible, but more about what shots work well together and why, what ones don't etc. I read in a book that gave a simple example of when to go to a close up and when not to. I had never ran across anything like that before and was wondering if there was other great wisdom out there.

I am very interested in camera movement as well. Hence my interest in dollys, stabilizers, jibs, etc.

Thank you for your input!

its http://technicalvideorental.com/

they have the dov simen dvd film school, hollywood camerawork, and the power of lighting. they have other dvds on just about every topic under the sun. i haven´t done it for awhile but i think it´s about 10 or 15 bucks per dvd for one week. considering those dvds are alot more expensive to buy it´s a pretty good deal.
