reality comedies

I have been watching seasons of arrested development on my computer latley. I know they use the dvx and varicam for shooting but what frame rate is it shot with. It's hard to tell since on my computer itrs progressive but based on teh style of shooting I would imagine 60i. Is this the frame rate? also what aboutther shows like The Office?

The Office:

Shot in HD using the Sony HDWF900 cam.

Arrested Development:
AG-DVX100
Panasonic VaricamHD

you can find this stuff on IMDB, if you look under technical specs. As with the Office and shows like 24 they'll tell you in the commentaries what they used to shoot the scene.

Arrested Development shot the vast majority of the show at 24 frame on VariCams, not DVX100s.

DVX100 is credited, but very little of the series lensed on that camera.

Considering Arrested Development was in HD when it was on, i doubt the DVX was used much,i watched alot of episodes and dont remember seein any nasty up rezzed dvx footy

DVX was used, but I was told that it was for simulation of surveillance cameras and so-forth.

man whats with everyone hijacking latley. I just want to know what frame rate was used not what camera. unless the varicam will only shoot 24p (I don't have any experience with it).

The Varicam gets its name from its ablibilty to shoot variable framerates. (From 2 fps to 60 fps, if I'm not mistaken.)

I believe the pilot for AD was shot on a DVX (you can see the light bleed when they are on the yacht in the first scene). After that it was almost all Varicam (although a few sequences used DV cameras for home videos, etc.)

As for framerate, my DVDs are 24 fps, so I would assume the show would have been shot the same, although it would have been broadcast with a pulldown.
