Anyone in here able to create realistic smoke? Have a shot of a pizza taken out of oven and held for a bit then thrown in trash. Need smoke on it and I am not getting it done very well.

I assume you mean steam, not smoke.
Sprinkle some water on the pizza. Heat it in the microwave. You will have plenty of steam coming off the pizza for a couple of minutes. But in order to see it, you have to backlight the steam or it won't be visible.
[edit] - never mind. I didn't notice this was under After effects. But still, you could film some steam coming off a plate with a steaming towel or sponge on it using a black background and then add it to the shot. Add the appropriate motion to the plate to get the steam to move realistically for the shot.

Check out particleillusion from Genarts for smoke creation. After Effects plugin available.
I'm guessing that you DO want "smoke", as in burned pizza, and that's why it goes in the trash, right? Could even add some flames with particleillusion ;-)
