Realistic prop guns in Canada

I've searched through the forum and can't seem to find what I'm looking for;

I need to find a retailer that is legal in Canada, where I can get a realistic prop handgun. I've found metal airsoft guns with realistic recoil, etc. But they aren't legal in Canada.

Also, I can't seem to find blank-firing guns in Canada either. Am I stuck using cheap plastic toys if I want to film in Canada?? or is there something I'm missing here? I know I could always use after effects to add in a muzzle flash, etc. But that's not what I'm hoping I'll have to do.

I want to find something with a recoiling barrel, and ejecting spent cartridges would be nice as well.. It's just not looking good so far here in Canada....

hmm, i'll have to check that out. All the places i've checked said that airsoft guns were illegal in Canada. I know you can get them still (I have a couple cheap ones). Maybe it's just the high-quality metal ones that are illegal here. Thanks for the reply though

My brother has bought prop gun replica's from the US. I believe the stipulation is that the gun barrel must be painted blue. The company he's dealt with is more than aware of Canadian laws and knows how to ship legally.

The price is around 300$ a gun but they are exact replica's right down to the fine print stamping. Very high quality stuff.

The Tommy gun we have looks identical to the real one and weighs in at several pounds. When he brought it over and I picked it up I thought it was real. Even has a serial number stamped into the balistics cylinder.

Anyways, I'll send you a PM with bro's email address and just mention this post and so forth.

Haha, I've never been to Sunderland yet.

My friends had two airsoft guns, they weren't realistic looking but they were airsoft guns. So I'm pretty sure there legal in Canada, unless my friends were....
