Real movies

Lets start a list of movies considered worthy and real, not all this Holloywood **** and remakes like Spiderman, Wolf Man etc.

I'll start with one BRILLIANT movie-Bad Lieutenant

The ORIGINAL with Harvey Keital

Bad Lieutenant was not real! It was a bunch of actors reciting pre-written dialogue, using camera placement to change point of view, and editing and music to manipulate our emotional responses! FAKE!...Alright, I'm just busting your balls, but you're not likely to find much agreement on what's "worthy and real". What's one man's real is another man's bullsh*t.

LOl.

Bad Leutenant had a Beginning, Middle and End - in that order - just like every other film or story ever.

Best advice I've ever had, was given to me in film school.
"Don't get into an industry you despise".
I guess you could also say:
"Don't despise an industry you're getting into".

You get the point.

You'll have to go back in time at least when movies began and work your way up, imo.
Along that path, everyones going to have a different opinion.

I have a few hundred DVD's but honestly probably less than 30, if that, are 'great' movies.

If your interested, just from a quasi movie fan, ones I like, I can sort out a list.
But there's still ones I haven't seen yet.

I don't know. If your younger, I wonder if you could even sit through much of the older stuff. Basically, start at the beginning. Around 1931 with Frankenstein, for me anyways. I never got into silent films so I don't know about that. Charlie Chaplain was up there in those days.

So what's that? Almost 100 years of film, hehe, almost.

But most of those films wouldn't cut it today if they were remade.
Long story short, you tell me why.

There is no easy list to make a good movie or anything, imo.
If anything is important, I suppose timing is everything.

-Cheers.

I think i meant quality films, with content, not just FX laden crap.

I love all the old movies they are fun to watch.

Honestly you can find "content" in almost anything, just depends on what your looking for. I get what you mean though about movies with substance. Those are typically my favorite :)

For me that would be -among others- Sean Penn's 'The Indian Runner'. I rewatch it every one or two years. That was a big surpize for me the first time I saw it back in 1991.
