I was just cruising the board and read something in “the dreaded Mac- PC debate” sort of suggesting that Mac’s don’t need repairs, when I was reminded of an old story my dad told me way back.
A wealthy man was riding in his Rolls Royce on a lonely stretch of desert in the Middle East to oversee and visit his oil companies. On a really bad stretch of road, the rear axel broke on the Rolls, unable to carry on the man sent his driver to get help. Hours later the driver returned with a Rolls Royce mechanic flown in by helicopter. The mechanic fixed the axel, said farewell and flew off. The man and his driver continued on concluding their business with no further trouble from the car. Months later, the man realized he had not been billed for the repair. Assuming the bill for helicopter delivered mechanics in the desert would be quite large, he took it upon himself to phone Rolls Royce to inquire. He recounted the desert story to the person at Rolls who received his call, including the helicopter and lengthy repair and the fact he had received no bill, to which the Rolls representative replied, ”I’m terribly sorry sir, but I think you must be mistaken…Rolls Royce axels do not break sir!”
