Re: Nagra SD?

Re: Nagra SD?

Anyone used a Nagra SD as a microphone for a DSLR?

If so, how was your experience? How as the sound quality? Did you need a shockmount or did you just use a hotshoe to 1/4 20 attachment? And which Nagra mic did you use?

Nagra makes great gear. I'm sure it would make a nice sounding camera mic/recorder. It wouldn't be a substitute for a properly placed mic.

I have a Nagra SD and I use the "green ring" low noise stereo mic.

I don't use it on a camera, though.

I agree with Rick in that a proper camera mic. would be better - but I also think that the Nagra would be better than a cheap camera mic.

If on-camera I would use a Rycote shockmount for it.

But, personally, I would never use a stereo mic. on a camera as the stereo image will wobble about with camera movement, which is quite nasty.

SO, if you have to use it on camera, I would use a mono mic. head.
