Re-import clip to avoid long render times ?

When I apply certain filters that take a while to render - i run into huge long render times when I want to apply more filters to the same clip at a later stage. ???
Would the best way of getting round those huge render times - maybe to export the clips & re - import as a new mov file - therefore cutting down the render times when applying more filters ?

Also - if I export the clip as dv pal qt mov ( self contained file ) & import again - would I be losing alot of resolution ? after re-applying filters etc.

cheers for any help on this

Re: Re-import clip to avoid long render times ?

Hi, I felt I'd better explain a little further

I think what I am trying to avoid is - after I apply certain filters & render - everything is fine when editing etc until that is.. I want to add another filter or maybe some text - or even a transition. Its then that I run into huge render times yet again - probably because it has to take into account the previous filters which have to be re-rendered.

My take is - if I am happy with the filters on a certain clip ( in this case g-film look) I should then export as a qt mov file ( dv pal self contained ) & import back onto the timeline as a brand new clip which has a much shorter render time when applying more filters or transitions ?

In theory - the new clip doesn't have to re-render previous filters such as g-film - which take a while to render in the first place.
At the moment - everytime I make a slight edit or add transition on a clip which already has filters such as the g-film look - it takes forever to render, everytime I add another filter on top.

so if anyone knows what im talking about - please give us your feedback.
