Re: GT 630 w/ 4GB vs GTX 295 w/ 896MB - H.264 Export

Hey guys,

I've installed a GT 630 w/ 4GB and a GTX 295 w/ 896MB.

Using a H.264 export (1080p@24p) in CS5.5 with the Cuda hack enabled, the GT 630 with more RAM (but slower RAM and less cuda cores) beat the GTX 295 by about 1%!

Now that is efficiency for you!

Here is a quick run down. The GT 630 starts off slower but due to the increased video ram it wins out in the end. The GTX 295 with more raw horse power starts off faster but slows down as it needs to do more swap files.

GTX 295 - 8min @ 0%, Under 7min @ 15%
GT 630 - 12min @ 0%, Under 7min @ 14%

NOTE: You can choose which video card CS5.5 uses by choosing the primary display in the Nvidia Control Panel. I'm running a dual monitor setup with each graphics card powering each one separately. The Nvidia Drivers will power both in dual-display mode using each graphics card separately! And by choosing which monitor is the primary monitor, you are essentially choosing which Graphics Card to use for CS5.5!
