Re: Gear with no MSRP? Confident?

Re: Gear with no MSRP? Confident?

Quick question for you guys.

It appears that some manufacturers are using as their "best practice" to not list any MSRP's. But instead allow their regional distributors to establish pricing. What this means is that when you "browse" for the product there is no pricing at all and is highly variable to exchange rates and the cost of shipping and whatever other variables the distributor feels like adding to the equation.

So my question to you is: Are you MORE LIKELY or LESS LIKELY to buy a product from these manufacturers who conduct business using these "best practices"?

Having no list price is a good way to annoy the end consumer, but - other than that, does list price mean anything? In today's world, especially for video, doesn't everyone just compare the current offer against whatever B&H is charging, to determine whether it's a good buy or not?

I think having no MSRP is annoying, but ultimately MSRP bears little to no relationship to what today's savvy buyer pays anyway...

annoys me in general. especially when im just looking for a "ballpark" rather than a "quote".
but there are all kinds of reasons why they do it.
