What steps should we follow if we are to bring a bunch of camera gear from Canada into the United States and back again.

We're planning on doing a shoot in Seattle but we operate out of Vancouver, Canada.

First: How much stuff are you taking. Rentals might help a lot with looking light at the border.
Second: Are you being paid to work in the States? This isn't possible most of the time, so you're lying to a federal officer
Third: Is it a doc., because this you can do......i.e. think doc!
Fourth: You best bet is: a nice vacation, you're a hobbyist .... and rentals for the big stuff.

I always use option number 4. I just pack the very bare essentials. Camera and lenses. The rest is rentals.
If it doesn't fit into a backpack ... leave it at home.
