RCA Inputs

Hi there,

I just bought the dvx100a and need to film a band tonight. I want to take the audio signal out of the board via RCA outputs into the DVX. How do I tell the DVX in Camera mode to accept audio into the RCA jacks?

Thanks

You can't. RCA's are output-only in camera mode; they're inputs when in VCR mode.

In camera mode you have to use the XLR jacks. You would probably need to get an RCA->XLR adapter.

RCA outputs tend to be consumer line level (-10dbu). You would probably need to attenuate the signal -40 db and bring in mic level. Without known the mixing board I could not tell you for sure but be prepared for that.

Good luck.

Hopefully the board the band is using has XLR outputs and can send you a feed that way. Just make sure you have the line/mic switch set properly according to what type of signal they are sending you.
