RCA inputs

I'm having trouble getting my RCA inputs to register a level in Camera mode. I've been all through the manual and have searched the forum.

I'm beginning to wonder if these are only for dubbing in audio, as no switch position seems to give us a reading. Is there a menu setting that i'm overlooking?

Re: RCA inputs

From what I've read I don't believe you can use the RCA settings in Camera mode, they don't seem to be set up for that.

That said, I've also read the menu and I can't even get them to work in VCR mode. For some reason I can't even get the VCR to record anything. Press REC all you want and nothing happens, especially not an audio dub. It says in the manual that "once the pause status is established in the VCR mode and this button is pressed (audio dub), the mode in which audio dubbing can be started is established.

Anyone know how to get into "pause status"?

Re: RCA inputs

if its cheap audio cables that came with the camera it could be the conducter rod in the center of the wire that could either be broken or fraid. Try some monster cables and if they dont help just return them. The advantage with monster cables in that their is nitrogen injected aruond the center rod conducter which gives it no change for it to move. meaning it can never break.. unlike the cheap wires from the box your cam came in.

No product weather 10dollars or 10 thousand dollars comes with the right cables. Hopefully in the future hdmi will fix all of this.

Hope this helps.

Re: RCA inputs

The RCA inputs/outputs are for VCR mode... during cam mode they are output only.

Re: RCA inputs

Hi,

Hoping this is a good place to continue this topic. I am lost
on how to set this up, so some advice on how to make this happen would be GREATLY appreciated. I want to use my camera like a vcr and hook it up to my stereo so that I can record a CD and/or an album playing from my turntable. I'm guessing that you can't just plug in the RCA cables from the turntable and plug them directly to the camera. It needs to run through some kind of amp system. Can I plug my camera into the back of my stereo into the tape deck plugs and if so,
would it go into the 2 record plugs or the 2 play plugs?
There are 4 connectors for the tape deck. I mention that just for those of you who don't use tape decks or cassettes any more...or never did. That's just for the wiring setup. The other
problem is how do I set up my camera through the menu selections to make this do-able. I have spent several hours trying different combinations w/camera in VCR mode to do this and nothing works.
I also tried the audio dubbing feature (in camera mode and vcr mode) which leads to even more confusion. Let me say...I don't have a computer at home to try this in an easier way.
Please somebody enlighten me and tell me this is possible.
Thanks to you all !!!
